THE NEWT
Common newts are nocturnal. They can often be found in woodland areas or ponds, and spend the day hiding under large stones or compost heaps. Newts hibernate from mid-October and will wake up in February or March.

THE SLUG Slugs are similar to snails, but they don’t have a shell. They’re not very fond of cold weather, so when it’s colder than 5° they’ll snuggle down deep into the soil to keep warm.
